Transition Team Thanks You…Invites You…Needs You
"shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you, not for shameful gain, but eagerly, not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock." (1 Peter 5: 2-3)
We thank you for your support and prayers, and for continuing to be an enthusiastic active member. Our time together as a church family at Table Talk Pie was invigorating! Your input about the future vision of First Pres is invaluable as the TT prepares the MIF (minister information form) to begin the search for an Interim Pastor.
Open communication is one of our goals. The Town Hall meeting was a wonderful attended opportunity for the congregation to engage in open dialogue, share ideas, suggestions and concerns, and learn about the interim pastor search process.
As we get closer to Consecration Sunday on November 20th we invite you to share in a “pot luck” lunch after Worship and we are reminded that “a compassionate life is a grateful life, and actions born out of gratefulness are not compulsive but free, not somber, but joyful, not fanatical but liberating. When gratitude is the source of our actions, our giving becomes receiving and those to whom we minister become our ministers.”
All hearts were filled with sadness these last few weeks while remembering Tim Smith and Cathy Van Wyngaarden, who were called home to be with our Lord, after serving this church so faithfully. We need you to continue to keep their families in your prayers as we head into the Advent season.
We are all shepherds of God’s flock! So be a shepherd of God’s flock and serve with joy, compassion, and an open heart!
